George Chen and Steve Santa Maria asked me to design their record cover when we all lived in the East Bay. They didn't place any aesthetic parameters on me, so I explored deeply how their ambient noise music made me feel. I mixed together a famous image of an iceberg in which one can see the underside of the iceberg, and instead used an image of an upside down Mayan pyramid. Above, I superimposed a photo I took of a lonely balloon flying high in the clear blue sky. On the back I used an aerial view of fields of lettuce and a split head of cabbage for the disc. As their music is very rhythmic and they're also both very funny gentlemen, everything fit together quite well. I wish they still made music together.
